Original price was: $129.90.Current price is: $64.95.

#2 double end carbide center drill, 4″ long, with a 90 degree angle and AlTiN coating. Drills a 5/64″ pilot and cuts the countersink in one pass on CNC and manual machines. Sold each, limited stock.

SKU: DR-XCD2-90AT Categories: ,

The X Series #2 combined drill and countersink is double ended, 4″ long, solid carbide with an AlTiN coating and a 90 degree included angle. It’s made in the USA. When one end wears, flip it and keep going. The 4″ length gives more reach than a standard 2″ center drill. One tool drills the pilot hole and cuts a 90 degree countersink or chamfer in the same pass. That saves a tool change on spotting, chamfering and countersinking for 90 degree flat-head screws.

Carbide holds its edge much longer than HSS or cobalt center drills in steel, stainless and cast iron. The AlTiN coating handles heat at higher speeds. This one is sold each, and we only have a few on hand.

Applications

  • Spotting and center drilling before drilling, in one operation with the countersink
  • 90 degree countersinks for flat-head screws
  • Chamfering hole edges
  • Center holes for work between centers on a lathe
  • CNC machining centers, manual mills, lathes and drill presses

Materials

  • Carbon and alloy steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Cast iron
  • Tool steel
  • Aluminum, brass and other non-ferrous metals

Usage Notes

  • Carbide is hard but brittle. Run it in a rigid setup with minimal runout.
  • Don’t use it in hand drills or anything that can rock or chatter. A side load will chip or snap the pilot.
  • Use coolant or cutting fluid in steel and stainless.
  • Feed steadily and don’t dwell. Rubbing wears the edge faster than cutting.
  • Peck if you’re going deep with the pilot so chips clear.
